EUGENE, Ore. –
Kaleo Wellman won the Long Jump on Saturday and was one of 12 Beacon men that combined to secure 13 qualifications for the CCC championship as Bushnell competed at the Lane Community College Open.
Wellman won the Long Jump by nearly two feet, posting a 7.35 meter jump (24-01.50) and missing the NAIA "B" standard by just two centimeters. It was the third-longest jump in school history for the Beacon record-holder.
Close behind him was Bushnell's only double-qualifier on the day as
Ty Kishen took fourth place at 6.75m (22-01.75). Kishen also qualified in the Triple Jump, where he won the meet as well, out-distancing second-place by 21 inches. His winning leap was 14.27m (46-10.00).
The High Jump added two more qualifications for the Beacons with
Jermaine Schexnayder and
Taylor Jackson both clearing the bar at 1.98m (6-06.00).
Brett Olmstead carried over his momentum from the indoor season with a huge personal best in the Pole Vault, coming in at 4.61m (15-01.50) to easily clear the CCC standard.
Throwers also got into the action as
Brodie Riscili (pictured, 41.46m/136-00) and Clayton DeWitt (38.92m/127-08) qualified in the discus,
Maxwell Al-Rubaie (47.11m/154.06) hit the standard in the hammer, and
Terren Crabb (50.33m/165-01) qualified in the javelin.
On the track,
Blake Thornton provided the Beacons with a qualifier in the 200m, running a 22.35 as he took fourth-place. Then, in the 400m Hurdles, both
Kian Lamb (58.63) and
Hudson Gerlits (1:01.02) qualified.
