PORTLAND, Ore. - The Bushnell Indoor Track & Field season got underway on Sunday as the Beacons competed at the Chiles Center in Portland at the University of Portland Indoor.
"It was a good first meet for us," said Head Coach
Kyle Will. "We saw the kids compete well, get aggressive and hit a lot of PRs."
The event, which only offers a limited number of track events, showcased a number of Beacons. Leading the way in each event were:
In the Women's 200m, Senior
Aniya Green took eighth place with a time of 26.96.
In the Men's 200m,
Austyn Woolcott led the team in second place, running a 23.27.
In the women's 600m, Green once again led the way with a 16th-place finish (1:50.95).
In the men's 600m,

And in the men's mile,

A number of Bushnell athletes were competing for the first time, including freshman
Viktoria Gabrio, who ran both the 200m (29.45) and 600m (2:07.19). After her debut she said, "I never imagined I would have the opportunity to compete as a college athlete, but being part of the Bushnell Track & Field program has already been such an incredible journey. Competing today was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but I chose to focus on the growth and belief that God will give me strength through hard races."
UP NEXT: Bushnell will return to action in Seattle next Friday at the University of Washington Invitational.
