Beacons Drop CCC Opener to No. 4 Warriors

SALEM, Ore. – One of the front-runners for the CCC and NAIA championships in 2025 showed every bit of why they are at the top on Wednesday as Corban University took a 25-20, 25-17, 25-17 victory over Bushnell in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener for both schools.

We started off blow-for-blow but could not sustain the needed pressure to slow down their offense tonight," said Head Coach Jason Corwin. "We will learn what we need to do and get better four our next match."

The Warriors (7-1, 1-0 CCC) had just four unforced attack errors in the match, producing a .330 kill percentage despite the Beacons putting down an 8-4 advantage in blocks.

A 47-33 advantage in total kills proved to be the difference as the Corban firepower was on display with three different players in double-digits. Makayla Roginksi led all players with 14 kills, hitting .500 while Emma Bischoff added 11 kills without an attacking error. Kendra Battle chipped in a double-double with ten kills and 11 digs.

Bushnell (6-5, 0-1) hit .150 in the match, and was led by 12 kills from Hailey Heider. Leah Agost added nine kills while Soleil Sands scored four kills along with a match-high six blocks. Emma Fa'alogo ked the Beacons with 17 assists while Kailey Shirley tied a match-high with 14 digs.

UP NEXT: With Coach Corwin sitting at 199 career wins, the Beacons will have their next chance to get him to 200 on Saturday when they play host to Warner Pacific University at 3:00 pm.
