INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – The Bushnell women's cross country team was missing a few key components on Friday evening, but still managed to pull off a sixth-place finish at the Ash Creek Festival, hosted by Western Oregon University.

Kyle Will Siad, "Our women's team was literally at half-strength and we were still not far behind Corban. Once we have everybody back and healthy, I am excited for what we are going to do."

Cadence Smith once again led the Beacons in the 5000-meter event, taking 26th place, posting a cross country 5k PR at 19:46.40.
Hailey Jackson was close behind in 35th (20:27.70). Â

Sidney Lane (59th, 22:33.20),
Sienna Lillebo (62nd, 22:40.40) and
Annika Kimball (64th, 22:42.70) created a tight pack to round out the scoring for the Beacons.

"Today's race was a mental battle," said Lillebo, "but an incredibly rewarding one. I pushed beyond what I thought my limits were and ran with purpose, for the Lord, for my teammates and for something greater than myself."

Also racing for Bushnell were
Jordan Lauinger in 72nd, and
Hannah Irrgang in 81st.
