LINFIELD OPEN RESULTS
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Bushnell track & field teams ended the regular season on a high note Saturday with three more qualifications for the CCC championships as they completed at both the second day of the OSU High Performance meet, as well as the Linfield Open.
Overall, the Beacons had seven new CCC tickets punched over the weekend.
On Saturday at Oregon State, Freshman
Hudson Gerlits (pictured) added a 110m Hurdles qualification to the 400m Hurdle standard he met earlier in the season. He ran a 16.54 in the event, the best for a Beacon in two years.
Sophomore
Jermaine Schexnayder returned to action for the first time of the outdoor season after recovering from injury and made the most of just three combined jumps as he earned Cascade Conference qualifications in both the high jump and triple jump.
In the high jump, he cleared the bar at 1.83 meters while in the triple jump he came within ¾ of an inch of hitting the NAIA "B" standard in his first jump, leaping 14.55m (47-09.00) to take third place out of 19 competitors.
Another highlight of the OSU meet was the high jump performance of
Taylor Jackson. The sophomore is peaking at the right time of the year as he cleared 1.93 meters for a personal record and the third-best jump in school history. He name ranks fourth in the CCC heading into the championship.
The women's trip to OSU was highlighted by the 4x400m relay team of
Cyan Kelso-Reynolds,
Karlee Myers (pictured),
Kyra Quinn, and
Lindsey Rankin as they posted the best time for a Beacon team this season at 4:17.59.
At Linfield it was another jumper leading the Beacons leading the way. Already a double-qualifier for conference, freshman
Elliot Nofziger won the high jump at 1.85 meters and then finished third in the triple jump with a personal best 12.48m.
Linfield's women's contingent was led by freshman
Ellie Ekwere who won the long jump competition and placed third in the triple jump.
Bushnell sprinters took center stage on Friday as the Beacons opened up their final weekend at OSU and snagged four CCC tickets.
The ladies were led by
Cyan Kelso-Reynolds, who earned a qualification in the 200m as she scored a time of 26.28. The women also produced a number of personal records in the event, including a 26.80 for Mikayla Parrish, a 27.25 for
Lindsey Rankin, and a 27.13 for
Kyra Quinn.
The men had a number of strong performance but also shined in the 200m where three athletes qualified.
Blake Thornton (22.10) and
Ty Kishen (22.66) added the 200m to their previously qualified events, while freshman
Austyn Woolcott punched his first ticket to the conference championship with a PR of 22.46.
Director of Track
Kyle Will said, "Overall, it was another solid weekend and for the most part we are pleased with where we are. Now it is just a matter of getting our qualifiers some rest, mentally and physically as we prepare for conference. We have a really strong group heading to conference and we are excited about what we are able to do there. We are going to be much more competitive than we have been the last few years. It's a tough conference and I am excited to see us continue to grow. As young as we are, we have bright future for sure."
UP NEXT: It's on to Ashland next weekend as over 20 Beacons head to the CCC championships, hosted by Southern Oregon University.
