Beacon Women Take Eighth Place

ASHLAND, Ore.  – The Bushnell women's track & field team took eighth place at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships this weekend to close out the 2025 season.
 
The closed the event on Saturday with strong performances from the track, jumps, and throws all contributing points to the team score.
 
Ellie Ekwere (pictured) led the way in the Triple Jump, earning a fourth-place finish as she was just 3 ¼ inches away from an All-Conference finish. Her best jump landed at 10.66m (34-11.75) which sets a new personal record and comes in as the fourth-longest jump in school history and best in six years.
 
The women's shot put provided points from both senior Libby Mathis in seventh place and Leah Schiewe in eighth. Mathis went 11.56m (37-11.25) in her final career competition while Schiewe earned a new personal record at 11.33m.
 
On the track, the 4x400m relay team of Cyan Kelso-Reynolds, Karlee Myers, Kyra Quinn and Lindsey Rankin took home two points for their seventh-place finish while freshman Jordan Lauinger's debut trip to the conference event earned her an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
The Beacons opened up the festivities on Friday, led by a fourth-place finish in the women's 4x100m relay.  The Beacon team of Kelso-Reynolds, Maddii Desemone, Kira Dennison and Rankin posted the 6th-fastest time in school history at 49.49, missing out on an All-Conference finish by just over one second.  
 
Kelso-Reynolds was also responsible for Bushnell's other three points as she took a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 5.43m (17-09.75). She was joined in the finals by Macayla Parrish, who earned her way in with a career-best mark of 5.20m in the prelims, taking ninth place after being seeded 12th.
 
Also making her mark on the day one festivities was Schiewe, breaking her own school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.78m (127-02).
 
The Beacons finished the championships with 19 points, tying with the Evergreen State College for eighth place. University of British Columbia won the event with 239 points.
