MONMOUTH, Ore. –
Taylor Jackson (pictured) and
Elliot Nofziger earned Cascade Conference qualifying marks on Saturday, leading the Beacons at the John Knight Twilight, hosted by Western Oregon University.
Â
Jackson posted the sixth-best mark in school history in the high jump, claiming his spot in the CCC event with a leap of 1.85m (6-00.75), earning a personal record as he cleared the six-foot barrier for the first time.
Â
Nofziger, already a high jump qualifier, added the triple jump to his conference resume, becoming Bushnell's fourth triple jumper to punch their ticket with a strong leap of 12.15 meters (39-10.50). Nofziger also earned a new personal record in the long jump, one of 12 total personal bests set by Beacons over the weekend.
Â
Maxwell Al-Rubaie tied his own school record in the Hammer on Friday night. He hit 42.06 meters (138-00), perfectly matching his own school record set at Lane Community College in March.
Â
Logan Gant continued his impressive sophomore season with two more personal records, in the 400 meter hurdles where he broke the one-minute mark for the first time with a mark of 58.27 seconds, and in the 800m where he hit 1:58.64. He is already a conference qualifier in the 400 meter hurdles.
Â
Friday also featured a pair of distance PR's, coming in the 1500m from
Grant Kaminer (4:35.46) and freshman
Miguel Ramirez (4:44.92).
Â
Saturday saw the sprinters join the party as Jahlin Green set new personal bests in the 100m (11.41) and the 200m (23.05).
Ty Kishen set a new 200m PR (23.06) while
David Johnson (11.28) and
Kian Lamb (11.44) also set personal records in the 100m. The Beacons are still searching for their first conference qualifier in those events.
Â
UP NEXT: Bushnell will split up next week, competing in two meets as a handful of elite athletes will make their way to Southern California for Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational while the majority of the team stays in Oregon to compete in Linfield's Larry Byerly Classic.
