EUGENE, Ore. – An elite group of Bushnell athletes were in action at Historic Hayward Field on Saturday, competing in the Oregon Preview meet.
Â
For the women, freshman
Cyan Kelso-Reynolds led the way as she qualified for the Cascade Conference Championships in her second event, running a 12.84 in the 100m. Kelso-Reynolds is already a qualifier in the long jump.
Â
Maddii Desemone was also in action in the 100m, continuing her road back from injury with a season-best time of 13.14.
Â
Jordan Lauinger, already a CCC qualifier in the 400m hurdles, improved her time with a run of 1:10.24, taking 12th place, while
Cadence Smith rounded out the Beacon contingent in the 5000m run with a 20th-place time of 19:11.54.
Â
Six men were in action and were once again led by the jumps crew as sophomore
Kaleo Wellman claimed an impressive second-place finish in the long jump. His 7.21m (23-8.00) jump was the third-best in school history, behind only himself as he remains the only Beacon to ever clear seven meters.
Â
The long jump also produced a fourth CCC qualifier for the Beacons as senior
Hunter Reininger grabbed his ticket with a season-best jump of 6.35m as he took 11th-place.
Â
In the triple jump,
Ty Kishen took fourth place with a leap of 14.12m (46-4.00). His mark was the tenth-best in school history and the second longest of his career.
Â
Elliot Nofziger finished just outside of Bushnell's all-time top-ten in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.80m.
Â
Also in action on the track were freshman
Blake Thornton in the 400m (51.03, 18th) and
Carmine Taetuna-Fautanu in the 100m (11.62, 33rd). Taetuna-Fautanu finished his race with a new personal best. Â
Â
Director of Track & Field
Kyle Will said, "Today was a better day for us with a few new conference qualifiers and some personal bests against some strong competition. Now we get a little bit of a break, and hopefully they can all get some rest and recovery time and we will regroup to finish the season strong."
Â
UP NEXT: Bushnell will return to action on April 4 when they travel to San Francisco for the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
