Beacons Breeze Past Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. – After a two-and-a-half hour battle to steal a win over No. 4 Corban University just 24 hours earlier, the Bushnell volleyball team needed a crisp 87 minutes to pull off a road sweep on Thursday, knocking off Warner Pacific University, 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.

Bushnell (14-8, 8-4) posted a season-best .376 attack and weren't blocked a single time, while blocking the Knights four times and holding the home team to a .012 hitting percentage with 15 unforced errors.

Head Coach Jason Corwin said, "We started a little slow, but found our footing about halfway through the first set. We didn't look back from there. The team was very mindful of staying focused and maintaining intensity throughout the match."

Senior Hailey Heider led the charge for the offense on Thursday with a double-double, hitting .500 and posting a match-high 12 kills along with ten digs and two of the Beacons nine service aces. Soliel Sands added nine kills and three blocks while Peyton Arland made the most of her second start of the season, earning eight kills.

Avery McCallister coordinated the offense with 18 assists while her co-setter Emma Fa'alogo (pictured) added 15 assists. The Knights had a difficult time in serve receive for much of the evening, due in large part to Julia Cook who finished with four aces.

Warner Pacific (0-12, 0-11 CCC) was led by Tayah-Anne Toa and JahNay Jardine with five kills apiece. Audrey Histed added seven assists and seven digs, both team-highs.

UP NEXT: Bushnell's week is complete before the usual Friday/Saturday game dates, giving them a crucial eight-day break before returning to action on October 17 when they take on No. 15-ranked College of Idaho at 6:00 pm.
