AZUSA, Calif./PORTLAND, Ore.  – The Bushnell women's track & field team split up to compete in a pair of meets this weekend.
Mayah Pappas qualified for the Brian Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University in California while the bulk of the roster competed at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.

All told, nine new PRs were established for the Beacons as the season rolled along.

For Pappas is was a strong weekend. The school record holder posted her second-longest jump ever, landing a 5.60m/18'4.5" to move up to third in the Cascade Conference rankings.

Portland also produced some positive performances with three Beacons earning Cascade Conference qualifications. Senior
Kaitlin Cook continued her impressive season with a second qualification, hitting a 1:11.11 for a personal record in the 400m hurdles. Cook, who has also qualified in the 3000m Steeplechase, had another personal-best race on Saturday, turning around just an hour after the hurdles to hit an 18:54.45 in the 5000m, breaking the 19-minute barrier for the first time and coming within 21 seconds of a third CCC mark.

Faith Palmer has once again qualified for the conference championships in the high jump as she cleared 1.47m/4'9.75", a new personal record.

Already a qualifier in the Shot Put,
Leah Schiewe added a discus mark as well, hitting a toss of 10.89m/35'8.75", also securing a new PR.

The Beacons will take another week off before returning on April 26 for the Oregon State High Performance Meet in Corvallis. Head Coach
Kyle Will said, "We are mentally and physically tired, so a week off will do us well. Our results were a little up and down, but even when we don't perform our best, we are learning things that we can work on and it will all come together when we need it to. I have preached all season that it's not until conference that anything matters."
