INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – Five Beacons set new 6000-meter PRs on Saturday as they took 12th-place at the George Oja Invitational, hosted by Linfield University at Oak Knoll Golf Course.
The biggest improvement came from
Sidney Lane (pictured), clearing one minute, 41 seconds off of her previous best race to come in under 27 minutes for the first time at 26:59.51, good for 132nd place.
Cadence Smith also shaved more than a minute off of her previous best, running a 24:37.21 and taking 88th.
The top runner for the Beacons was senior
Kaitlin Cook, setting her own PR at 23:06.90. It was the 11th-fastest 6K in school history and helped her take 40th-place in the 180-runner field.
Marae Paggio (24:32.47, 84th) and
Mariah Anderson (26:44.22, 128th) also established personal records on Saturday while
Jordan Lauinger ran her first 6000-meter race at 26:22.68.

Kyle Will said, "Our girls had an amazing day. They are putting in the work and seeing the results. Kaitlin is on the verge of breaking 23, and she had more. She didn't even seem tired at the finish."
The Beacons have one more regular-season race as they host the Bushnell Invitational next Saturday morning at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Springfield.
