EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell build a 20-point lead early in the second half and held on for a 96-82 victory over Northwest University on Saturday evening in Cascade Conference action, moving to 3-0 at home.

Tony Frohlich-Fair (pictured) combined for 53 points, shooting 85% from the field to lead the way.
The Beacons (8-5, 5-2 CCC) shot 59% from the field in the game. The top scoring team in the CCC crossed the 90-point mark for the seventh time this season and out-rebounded the Eagles 42-41.

Eddie Alexander said, "I am really proud of the guys and how they held the lead from start to finish. Northwest is a team that is going to surprise some teams the rest of the season."
Northwest (2-11, 1-6) hit 40% of their field goal attempts but were just 4-for-25 from three-point range. The Eagles held a 50-30 margin in bench scoring and earned a 26-15 advantage in second-chance points as 20 of their 41 rebounds were on the offensive glass.
The Beacons modern-era scoring leader was up to his usual tricks on Saturday as Schlabach hit 12-for-14 from the field including a perfect 5-for-5 in the second half as Bushnell held off a late charge by the Eagles. He finished with a game-high 28 points. Frohlich-Fair wasn't far behind, shooting 11-15 as he came off the bench with 25 points and tied for the team-high with nine rebounds.
"I am proud of the way Stevie came out and asserted himself today and the way that Tony came in and kept the momentum going," said Alexander. "I felt like Luke played an amazing 11 minutes in the first half, keeping the other team honest and shooting the right shots. That is a very big for us when guys play their role perfectly. It helps everyone."
Frohlich-Fair said, "I was glad we were able to get going early tonight. Stevie and the rest of the starters set the tone which gave all of us confidence. We had good intensity throughout the game and responded well when Northwest went on some runs."
Trevon Richmond and
Spencer Hoffman added ten points apiece as Richmond led all players with six assists.
Kaden Sand flirted with his second straight double-double before finishing with nine points, nine rebounds and a game-high three blocks.
Northwest was led by Luke Howard, coming off the bench to score a double-double with 27 points and a game-high ten rebounds including seven offensive boards. Lewis Pope posted 17 points and hit three three-pointers while Trent Williams scored 11 points.
The Beacons remain at home next weekend and will face off against Eastern Oregon University (3-10, 2-5 CCC) on Friday, January 12 at 7:30 pm.
