CORVALLIS, Ore. – Two women added their names to the Cascade Collegiate Conference roster this weekend at the Oregon State High Performance Meet.
"This meet was a good test for our team," said Director of Track & Field
Tom Boldon. "The weather was warm, and the competition was strong. The heat and slight tailwind made for fast races."
On Friday, Freshman
Harmony Goodman (pictured) ran a career-best time of 12:53.87 in the 3000m Steeplechase, punching her first ticket to the CCC championship.
Then on Saturday, junior
Faith Palmer booked a return trip to the conference clash in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.45 meters (4'9").
The distance and jumps groups weren't the only ones to post highlight performance on the weekend as throws and sprints also got into the action.
Freshman
Leah Schiewe double-dipped on personal records, securing the Beacons' best discus throw of the season on Friday at 34.82 meters (114'3"), adding nine feet, five inches to her own personal best. She followed with a PR shot put throw on Saturday, hitting 10.79m (35'4.75").
Sophomore
Maddii Desemone led the sprinters, hitting a PR in the 100m at 12.77 seconds.
Other Highlights:
The Beacons will close out the regular season next week looking to add the finishing touches onto a strong conference contingent. A select few athletes are expected to qualify for the University of Oregon Twilight on Friday while even more will compete on Saturday at the Linfield Invitational.
