Ladies Win Three Events at Lane Open

COMPLETE RESULTS

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Beacon women's track & field team took advantage of a strong "home" crowd on Saturday afternoon as they claimed three event victories at the Lane Community College Open.

Director of Track Tom Boldon said, "We had a pretty good meet today and got a closer look at where we really are, due to more ideal conditions then we say in McMinnville last week. The weather was great and our marks reflected it."

Freshman Jenea Robertson claimed victory in the women's 400m run, running a 1:01.42. Teammate Adrienne Mai also took third place for Bushnell.

Robertson also claimed a second-place finish in the long jump (5.29m/17'04.25"), finishing behind teammate Mayah Pappas, who won the event with a PR-tying jump of 5.41 meters (17'9"). Both women qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships and are currently ranked No. 1 and No.2 in the event.

The final win came on the track where senior Rebecca Kuskie claimed a 72-second victory over the runner-up from Linfield in the 5000m race, claiming a new personal record at 19 minutes, 4.84 seconds.

Four more women joined Pappas and Robertson as conference qualifiers. Janae Usselman was a two-time qualifier in the triple jump (10.00m/32'9.75") and the javelin (38.87m/127'6"). She finished second in both events.

The Shot Put was home to a pair of conference qualifiers in Libby Mathis (11.00m/36'1.25") and Leah Scheiwe (10.64m/34'11"). The duo ranks second and third in the CCC respectively.

The final qualification came for Sierra Janikowski (pictured) in the 400m Hurdles. The junior ran a JR of 1:10.17 in the 400m hurdles and also missed a qualification in the 100m hurdles by just .02 seconds.

Other highlights for the Beacons:
Bushnell will compete in two events next weekend. Most of the team will be at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open while certain qualifiers will compete at the Oregon Preview at historic Hayward Field.
