Offense Explodes in Win Over Wolves

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Bushnell bounced back after their first conference loss of the season last weekend, shooting 58% from the field on their way to a 112-94 blowout victory over Walla Walla University on Friday night.

The Beacons (6-4, 3-1 CCC) hit 15 three-pointers, shooting 63% from outside, and hit 89% at the free-throw line as they posted their highest point-total in a CCC game since 2019. Six players scored in double-figures in their largest scoring output ever against Walla Walla.

"I am really proud of how the guys executed offensively and defensively in key moments today to stretch the lead," said Head Coach Eddie Alexander. "We allowed them to trade baskets with us in the second half after building a solid lead, but that gave me the opportunity to work on some player combinations I wanted to see on the floor together."

Stevie Schlabach (pictured) matched a season-high, scoring a team-high 23. The third-highest scorer in Bushnell history moved over the 1700-point mark with the effort, that included three three-pointers and a 10-for-11 night at the free-throw line.

"It was a great team win tonight," said Schlabach. "My teammates were doing a great job of moving the basketball which opened up a lot for me on the offensive end."

Kaden Sand added 19 points on 6-for-7 shooting, and matched a team-high with four assists. Sand said, "We still have a lot of things to improve upon, but when we have our shooters shooting like they can, it spreads the floor and creates driving lanes to get to the hoop, making my job easy. We just need to carry this momentum into tomorrow and get another road sweep."

Cory Johnson posted a 5-for-6 effort from three-point range and scored 18. Luke Smith contributed 13 points with Tony Frohlich-Fair (12) and Trevon Richmond (10) also in double-figures. Spencer Hoffman scored eight points in the win and led all players with 11 rebounds.

Walla Walla (3-5, 2-2) was led by Almonds Sebirokwa who shot 13-for-14 from the floor to earn a game-high 26 points. Dillon Wasser added 20 points and Ethan Ford led all players with ten assists.

Alexander said, "We will take away a lot from this game today that we hope will give us what we need tomorrow against a very good LC State team."

Bushnell will conclude the calendar year on Saturday with their eighth straight road game, facing off against Lewis-Clark State College at 6:00 pm.
