VOLLEYBALL
Friday 10/28 at Evergreen, 7:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Saturday 10/29 at Northwest, 5:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Bushnell (16-10, 11-7 CCC) found themselves on the losing end at home for just the third time this season when they fell to Southern Oregon on Saturday in five sets. The loss has dropped the Beacons out of the "Receiving Votes" conversation nationally, and into a fourth-place tie with Southern Oregon in the CCC.
CCC LANDSCAPE: While No. 1 ranked Eastern Oregon and No. 3 Corban have ran away with the top-two spots in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the race for third and the fight for the other four spots in the six-team CCC tournament are still being hotly contested. Evergreen currently holds third-place at 12-6, followed by SOU and Bushnell at fourth (11-7) and LC-State in sixth (10-8). Northwest and Oregon Tech (9-9) as well as College of Idaho (8-10) are all mathematically in the hunt and none of the seven teams fighting for four spots have clinched.
EVERGREEN: The Geoducks (13-9, 12-6) have been one of the surprises in the conference this season, but they have matches with the Beacons, Corban, and Eastern over the final two weeks.
Evergreen is currently fifth in the CCC in hitting percentage (.210) and they rank seventh (.165) defensively. They are second in the conference in blocking, averaging 2.23 per set, led by Hannah Rongen, who is #2 on the conference list (1.19). Sierra Wolff leads the CCC in assists at 8.67 per set, slightly ahead of
Makenna Northern (8.63).
Bushnell claims a 21-9 advantage in the all-time series and have won five of the last six meetings. The Beacons won in Eugene earlier this season in five sets.
NORTHWEST: The Eagles (13-13, 9-9) are currently on the outside looking in for the CCC playoff chase, and have the same difficult road ahead of them with Bushnell, No. 1 EOU and No. 3 Corban among their final four opponents.
Northwest ranks eighth in the CCC in hitting (.174) and fifth in opponent hitting (.152). The Eagles are the top serving team in the conference, averaging 2.1 aces per set, and they are No. 2 in digs with 16.3 per set.
The Beacons defeated NU at home in five sets earlier this season and have won five of the last six. Despite that, Northwest owns an 18-13 lead in the all-time series.
