BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- 
Caden Stubbs led the Bushnell men's golf team with a ninth-place individual finish at the British Columbia Invitational, taking place at the Sudden Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
 
Stubbs shot a 72 (E) on Tuesday to post a three-round score of 223 (81-70-72) and move up three spots in the final standings. Senior 
Andrew Webb also had a strong opening tournament for the Beacons, finishing with a three-round score of 75-77-74–226 to tie for 13
th.
"UBC hosted a very fine tournament. The golf course was demanding and it was good ice-breaker for the beginning of the year," said Webb.
Bushnell improved by 12 strokes as a team in the third round to hold on to fourth place in the final standings with a final score of 930. 
 
UBC's Ethan de Graff and JP Kahlert, along with Lewis-Clark State's Devon Caruso all finished at an even-par 216 to force a three-way playoff for the men's individual title. De Graaf shot birdies on all three playoff holes to earn the Cascade Collegiate Conference's season-opening title.  
 
The Thunderbirds won the tournament by 10 strokes (868) over second-place Lewis-Clark State (878). Multnomah took third (914), while Bushnell (930) held on to a slim lead over Oregon Tech (933) for fourth place. The College of Idaho took sixth (961), followed by Walla Walla (969) in seventh and Corban in eighth (974).
 
Jackson Muramoto finished in a tie for 24
th (80-85-74—239) after a solid improvement on Tuesday. 
Benjamin Lovrod placed 29
th (80-81-82 –243), posting consistent scores in his collegiate golf debut. 
Connor Maloney tied for 38
th (93-86-81—260) with his best round on Tuesday.
Director of Golf 
Larry Watts said, "I'm proud of how the young freshman battled over the past two days. Benjamin fought hard for 54 holes. Overall, we learned something about ourselves and are looking forward to getting back to practice."
Bushnell will be back in action in less than a week, competing at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational in Dupont, Wash. on Sunday and Monday.
