EUGENE, Ore. –
Bushnell saw multiple personal records, event victories, and a few new Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifications this weekend at the Titan Invitational hosted at Lane Community College.
DAY TWO RECAP:
Sophomore
Sarah Phillips won the 200m event on Saturday, leading the Beacons. Phillips came across the finish line in 27.19 seconds, posting the fastest time of the season for a Beacon while missing the Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifying standard by less than a half second. She won the event by .08 seconds. Freshman
Adrienne Mai came in third in the event at 27.78.
Bushnell did add another CCC qualifier on Saturday as junior
Jordyn Edewards posted her second Q in as many days. This time it was in the 400m hurdles where she took third place at 1:10.20.
Also posting a strong performance for the women was sophomore
Aneykah McCall (pictured), who posted her second personal record in as many days, winning her 800m heat with a time of 2:29.22. She finished sixth overall.
The men's day two collection was highlighted by the 4x400m relay team which closed the day with a victory and three-second season improvement. The Beacon squad of
Josh McCluskey,
Jaron Carter,
Hunter Reininger, and
Shawn Johnson ran a 3:25.75, beating Southern Oregon University. Johnson held off a late charge from the SOU anchor down the stretch to preserve the 1.68 second win.

Tom Boldon said, "We had a good day at Lane today. The distance session in the morning saw strong lifetime bests from Aneykah,
Jacob Lackey, and
Kennedy Larson.
Christopher Rosebrook won his heat of the 800m, and Jaron continues to look good, running a great 200 into a strong head wind on the curve that effected times.
DAY ONE RECAP:
The women's CCC qualifier list grew a little on Friday as
Jordyn Edewards and
Rachel Rhoads both hit qualifying marks on the first day of the Titan Invitational at Lane Community College.
Edewards landed a qualification in the 100m hurdle, as she took sixth-place with a time of 16.19. Rhoads made her Pole Vault debut on Friday, fresh off the end of her women's soccer season. The senior former school record holder crossed the bar at 2.93 meters, taking eighth place to join new school record
Carina Haas and
Skye Urban as qualifiers in the event.
Also highlighting the 13 women competing was Janae Usselman who took second-place in the javelin to improve her season-best mark to 38.49 meters. Already a Cascade Conference qualifier in the event, Usselman missed the NAIA "B" standard by just 20 inches.
Boldon said, "Janae continues her rise in the Javelin. I think she has a solid chance to hit that national standard this year."
For the men, sophomore
Jaron Carter is the new Fastest Beacon Ever after claiming the 100m record on Friday. Carter took second place in the event, running a 10.81 to break the old record of 10.90 which was set four years ago. Already a qualifier in the event for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship, He is now ranked No. 1 in the conference and was only 13/100ths of a second away from hitting the NAIA "B" standard.
Boldon said, "What a strong performance for Jaron. He got out of the blocks well and put himself in a great position for that lifetime best, beating his previous best that he set on the same track five weeks ago."
Senior
Logan Oakerman, a three-event school record holder, also took second place in one of his events on Friday, finishing as the runner-up in the men's discuss with a toss of 43.72 meters.
Rounding out the highlights for the Beacons on day one was senior
Shawn Johnson in the 400m. The school-record holder in the event, Johnson set a new season-best at 49.67 seconds which also puts him at the top of the Cascade Conference performance list.
The Beacons will have plenty of opportunities on Saturday as ten more events take place on the final day of the Titan Twilight.
The Beacon track & field teams will be back in action next week in two locations. Select qualifiers will compete at the Oregon Relays on April 23-24, getting their first opportunity to compete at the newly renovated Hayward Field. The remainder of the team will hit the road for McMinnville, traveling to compete in the Linfield Invitational on the 24th.
