EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell University cross country teams were able to have some practical training on Saturday, competing against one another in a Blue vs. Gold scrimmage, taking place at Alton Baker Park. The women ran a 3000m course while the men competed in a 5000m run.

Second-year head coach
Tom Boldon was thrilled to have a chance to get out onto a competitive course for the first time this year. "I think this was a good start to the season," he said. "Just getting to finally race is a blessing. I thought several of our kids ran fairly strong for still being early in our training. They knocked a little rust off and now we have a couple of weeks to prepare for our first collegiate competition of the season."

Combining scores between the men and women, the blue and gold squads came out in a dead heat, 36-36.

Junior
Tea Chatelain, won the women's race with a time of 11:34.14, leading a Gold team that included five women and three men. Senior
Jacob Truitt was victorious in the men's race at 16:49.99 and led the Blue team, which featured five men and three women.

The second woman to cross the finish line was sophomore
Rebecca Kuskie (11:46.16) followed by sophomore Anekah McCall (12:43.97) and freshman
Kaitlin Cook (12:50.05).

Also running for the ladies were freshman
Kennedy Larson (13:03.61), freshman
Skye Urban (13:11.10), junior
Jasmine Lay (13:17.13) and junior
Victoria Messer (14:01.39).

A freshman took second place in the men's race as
Christopher Rosebrook came across the line in 17:12.70. Senior
Andrew Mitchell was third (17:18.97) followed by senior
Jacob Lackey (17:40.3) in fourth.

The Beacons will also host the first official collegiate race of the season on Friday, November 6 at the Bushnell Invitational. The races begin at 10:00 am at Middlefield Golf Course in Cottage Grove .
