EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University Rocket League team saw plenty of action this weekend as they continued play in the NAC Esports Rocket League Championship while also finally beginning Collegiate Rocket League play.
GAME ONE: NCU 3, ECPI 1
After losing in Round 1 of the NAC Esport Rocket League Championship, the Beacons came out hot on Thursday, beating East Coast Polytechnic Institute 3-0, 1-2, 5-0, 2-1 in the best-of-five match and capturing the first win in program history for NCU Rocket League.
The match was played with Preston Clark (PrestoMagic), Spencer Wellings (Kaeso Clarus) and Caitlyn Park (CrazehPanda).
NCU outshot their opponent 38-11.

GAME TWO: NCU 0, UCSB 3
After being postponed multiple times, Collegiate Rocket League Western Qualifier 1 finally began on Thursday. NCU earned a forfeit victory in its first contest, as University of California San Diego was a no show. The Beacons met University of California Santa Barbra in the next round losing 0-7, 2-4, 3-7.
The match was played with Preston Clark (PrestoMagic), Spencer Wellings (Kaeso Clarus) and Kevin Kaelin (Relyingferret).

GAME THREE: NCU 0, KU 2
On Sunday the NCU Rocket League continued play in the Collegiate Rocket League tournament hoping to advance through Western Qualifier 2. This time the bracket was a double elimination, best-of-three game series. The Beacons lost game one to a veteran Jayhawks team 1-2, 1-3. Even with each KU player being ranked Grand Champion, NCU kept it close.
The match was played with Preston Clark (PrestoMagic), Spencer Wellings (Kaeso Clarus) and Alex Daraban (Alexio).

GAME FOUR: NCU 2, NDSU 1
One loss away from elimination, NCU refused to go home without a fight. The Beacons finally got their offense going in game two of the qualifier beating North Dakota State University 1-2, 4-3, 5-0.
NCU made no changes to their lineup with Preston Clark (PrestoMagic), Spencer Wellings (Kaeso Clarus) and Alex Daraban (Alexio) getting the start.
Clark and Daraban each completed a hat trick in the match.

GAME FIVE: NCU 0, DSU 2
The Beacons were unable to keep momentum going into the third match of the day on Sunday. NCU lost to Dakota State University 0-2, 1-4. With the loss the Beacons were eliminated from the CRL tournament.
The match was again played with Preston Clark (PrestoMagic), Spencer Wellings (Kaeso Clarus) and Alex Daraban (Alexio).
