DuPONT, Wash.  – The Northwest Christian University men's golf team competed in their second tournament of the week, finishing eighth in The Collegiate Open at The Home Course.
 
NCU was the only Cascade Collegiate Conference team participating in the event which was hosted by Pacific Lutheran University and Grays Harbor Community College and featured many junior colleges and Division III schools.
 
The Beacons "A" team scored 605 over the two-round event and tied with Bellevue CC. NCU was just four strokes out of fifth place.
 
Leading the A team was Liam Bedford (pictured) in 18th (76-73—149). He was followed by Jon Holzgang (76-75—151) in 28th place. Drew Schwarz and Caden Stubbs each shot a 154, Andrew Webb was at 155 and Connor Maloney posted a 156.
 
Seth King and Keegan Spengler each shot 150 to lead the B team, which finished in tenth place, just four shots behind the A squad.
 
The Beacons, rejoined by the ladies, will return to action on September 23, heading back to Washington to take part in the second Cascade Conference tournament of the season at the British Columbia Invitational.
