SALEM, Ore.  – In the penultimate tournament of the 2018-2019 season, the NCU men's golf team claimed a fourth-place finish in the Corban Spring Invitational at Creekside Golf Club.

The Beacons shot a three-round total of 873, six strokes behind Corban University for third. CCC associate member University of British Columbia, ranked No. 13 in the NAIA, won the tournament going away, holding a 14-shot advantage over second-place and No. 14 ranked Oregon Tech. The Thunderbirds were 8-under par as a group.

NCU's top individual golfer was Liam Bedford (pictured), competing on the "A" team for the first time this season in CCC play. Bedford tied for 12th place, shooting a six-over 216 on the par-70 course. Bedford owned a first-round 69 to highlight his week.

John Holzgang and Andrew Webb tied for 14th at 218. Webb, competing for the NCU "B" team, opened the tournament strong, shooting a two-under 68 over the first 18 holes. It was the lowest round of the season for the Beacons and was just the 12th round of 68 or better in NCU history.

Behind Bedford and Holzgang, the "A" team was rounded out by Levi Dean in 28th (224), Josh Goins in 30th (225) and Michael Carrillo in 39th (227).

After holding just a one-shot lead over Corban headed into the week, the Beacons now trail the Warriors by five shots for third place in the CCC heading into the conference championships on April 22nd in Bend, Oregon which act as the final regular-season event. The winner of that tournament alone will secure the CCC's automatic bid for the NAIA National Championship tournament.
