2/21/2019 1:23:00 PM

EUGENE, Ore. - In their first season, the Northwest Christian University Overwatch team has made plenty of noise and after a final varsity victory over Utah Valley, they head into the postseason looking to make even more.

The Beacons took care of business against Utah Valley, winning 2-0 as they took victories on the Nepal and Numbani maps, and finished out the Varsity schedule with just one loss.

The regular season has come to a close and NCU now prepares for two concurrent post-season tournaments as they are looking to gain a berth in the TESPA Overwatch Collegiate National Championship tournament.

REGIONAL LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
(BRACKET)

Over the next two three Sundays, all 29 teams from Region 1 will do battle in the Regional League tournament. The top two teams will earn a bid to the National Championship tournament.

The Beacons (4-1) are one of three teams to receive a bye into the round of 16 and own the No. 3 seed. Their first and only match will take place at 6:00 pm on Sunday against the winner of the Central Washington-Cal State Sacramento battle. Win, and NCU will advance to the regional quarterfinals on March 3.

VARSITY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
(BRACKET)

The Beacons will battle it out with all six other teams from their Sub-Region. These are the same teams that NCU faced during the Varsity League regular season. The Beacons took second-place and own the No. 2 seed, and are scheduled to face Utah State (1-6) in the opener on Saturday at 3:00 pm. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner of Jamestown-Utah Valley at 5:00 pm.

On March second, the remaining two teams play in the Sub-Regional championship with the winner going on to face the winner of Sub-Region 1B. That Region 1 Champion will earn a spot in the National Championship Tournament.
