EUGENE, Ore. – NCU rolled their winning streak to six matches this week as they went 3-0 with victories in all three leagues.
Â
Varsity League vs. Boise State
Â
The week started off strong on Tuesday night as the Beacons completed a three-match season sweep of Boise State University with the Varsity League victory.
Â
Beginning on Lijiang Tower, a control map, the Beacons took a quick first fight in round one and rolled to a 100-0 win. Round two proved to be more difficult. NCU got to 99% before Boise State made a strong push to take the point. The Broncos held control until they also hit 99% before the Beacons took back the point and won the map in a tense final fight.
Â
Boise State picked King's Row for the second map and the Beacons promptly moved to 4-1 on that map. The Beacons started on offense, quickly took the point and after a long team fight, got to the first checkpoint on their first push. NCU went on to take the third point as well.
Â
As the teams revered roles, the Broncos were able to grab the point after needing several attacks to do so. NCU held from there and Boise was not able to get to the checkpoint, giving the map and the match to the Beacons.

Josh "gamgam" Sims (pictured) earned MVP honors for the match, doing a strong job countering Boise State's ultimates.
Â
National League vs. Washington
Â
Sunday's national match featured a rematch with regional and varsity opponent University of Washington who the Beacons defeated in Regional competition in late January. The second meeting felt very similar as it was once again the Beacons who came out on top with the 2-0 win.
Â
Opening on the hybrid Eichenwalde map, NCU started on offense and grabbed all three points before holding the Huskies to just two as they used a pair of team wipes on the final stage.
Â
NCU returned to Lijiang Tower (control) for the second map and once again pulled out the win. After cruising to a round one victory, the Beacons got to 88% before the Huskies took control. NCU rallied, however, with strong play from Tyler "Shockmaster" Chase to take back the point and push to the win in overtime.
Â
Regional League vs. Gonzaga
Â
The region match featured NCU taking on Gonzaga University with Junkertown (escort) and Volskaya Industries (assault) on the docket and what transpired was one of the closest battles of the season.
Â
The Beacons took all three points on offense on the Junkertown map. On defense, NCU lost the first two team fights and gave up the first point. Back-and-forth fights continued but the Bulldogs eventually took the second point. The Beacons recovered in time to stall Gonzaga on the third point to win the map.
NCU started on offense again in the second map, and quickly took the first point. They cruised straight to the second point and took it on their first try. Gonzaga also grabbed the first point but the Beacon defense was able to hold second point for over five minutes to take the win.
Gabe "Nukeleotide" Hansen was singled out as the most valuable player for the day in his support role.

NEXT UP:
Â
The Beacons finish out the National League schedule with a record of 5-2. 54 teams placed higher so NCU will not grab one of the 28 automatic bids to the National Championship tournament via that route.
Â
NCU ends regional play at 4-1 and sits in a four-way tie for second place. The Beacons should have a high seed for the regional tournament when the bracket is released later this week.
Â
But first, NCU will conclude the Varsity schedule on Tuesday night as they take on Utah Valley (2-3). NCU (4-1) will claim second-place in Region 1-A with a win, setting themselves up nicely for the Varsity Championship Tournament.
