CALDWELL, Idaho – Posting the best tournament score in eight years, the Northwest Christian University women's golf team closed out the College of Idaho Invitational with strength on Tuesday, finishing fifth.

NCU scored a two-round total of 708, which ranks sixth on the all-time list and was the lowest score since a 700 in the final round of the 2010 season.

The University of British Columbia won the tournament, shooting a 603 to defeat Oregon Tech by five shots. The two schools combined to own all ten of the top finishes among Cascade Conference competitors.

The best score from a non-Thunderbird or Owl player came from NCU sophomore
Kelsie Hellwege, finishing 15th overall with a two-round 164. She completed rounds of 80 and 82 which were the second and third best of her career, helping her set a new personal best two-round score by six strokes.

Freshman
Cassidy Krauss rebounded from a 92 in Monday's opening round to card an 81 on Tuesday, taking 23rd place.
Carli Brousseau followed closely in 25th (88-86—174) while
Keri Schwarz finished 29th (184) and
Fernanda Gardea took 30th (187).

Also golfing for the Beacons were
Hannah Bude, who took 34th and
Stella Reaka in 36th.

The Fall golf season will continue on October 8 when the Beacons travel to Klamath Falls for the Oregon Tech Fall Invite, a non-conference counting event.Â
