Consistency Key to Second-Place Finish

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.  – The Northwest Christian University men's golf team closed out the fall season on Tuesday, taking second and third-place in the Oregon Tech Fall Invite at Running Y Ranch.
 
The Beacon "Gold" team, led by a second-place finish from freshman Michael Carrillo, shot a 301-303—604, finishing 17 strokes behind host OIT but a comfortable 27 shots ahead of The College of Idaho, who took fourth.
 
Sandwiched between was the Beacon "Blue" team, shooting a 307-310—617 for third place.
 
Carrillo finished the two-round tourney at one-under par, shooting a 71-72—143. He finished just three shots behind Chris Carew from The College of Idaho, who had an eight-under 64 in Monday's first round.
 
Jon Holzgang (pictured) took seventh place as a member of the Blue team (77-73—150), one shot ahead of Josh Goins from the Gold team (74-77—151).
 
Levi Dean (78-77), Garison Lyman (78-77) and Drew Schwarz (76-79) all finished in a tie for 12th place.
 
Also ending the event in the top-20 were Conner Maloney and Keegan Spengler, tying for 17th place at 12-over par.
 
The Beacons will take a competitive hiatus until March 9, 2019 when the spring season kicks off in Eagle Point at the Oregon Tech Spring Invitational.
