MONMOUTH, Ore. – Hitting their midseason stride, the Beacon women's track & field team competed at Western Oregon on Thursday and Friday at the John Knight Twilight.
Â
Shea Vallaire led things off on Thursday night as she grabbed her second NAIA automatic qualifying standard of the season. Having already punched her ticket in the 5000m, Vallaire won the 10000m event by over two minutes and ran the fourth-fastest time in NCU history at 36:14.50. It was the fastest time in the CCC this season and the second best in the NAIA.
Â
On Friday, senior
Sierra Brown hit the track in the 1500m for the first time this year and easily punched out a conference qualifier as she came in at 4:50.73. Brown is NCU's school-record holder in the event.
Â
Also of note from Friday was
Abigail Spencer (pictured) who upped her season-best mark in the long jump to 5.11 meters. She currently ranks fifth in the CCC in the event.
Â
The Beacons will be back in action this weekend, traveling to what is essentially a conference preview meet at the Southern Oregon Invitational.
