PORTLAND, Ore. – With most of the team busy competing near home at the Lane Preview, a select few distance runners headed to Portland for the Lewis & Clark Open.

For
Shea Vallaire the trip proved more than fruitful as the senior broke the school record in the 5000m, coming in at 17:10.31. She took more than 90 seconds off the old mark which was set by
Alyssa Harmon in 2015. Vallaire also won the race by 25 seconds and improved on her own best time in the NAIA this season.

Also running the 5000m event for the Beacons were
Michelle Fletcher (3rd Place, 17:45.01),
Rosa Schmidt (6th, 17:54.05), and
Melissa Rios (11th (18:03.87), all of whom had already qualified for the CCC championships.
