HERMISTON, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's track & field team completed their best CCC championship finish in school history on Saturday, finishing in fourth place.
 
A CCC Championship by Bailey Dell (pictured) and 37 total points between the javelin and 5000m run propelled the Beacons to 106 points, 55 more than ever before. The team also far outdistanced their seventh-place finish from 2015 which had been the highest in school history.
 
Dell, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, won the javelin championship, throwing just shy of a personal record. Madeleine Nelson came into the Javelin seeded third and finished the day in second place after a personal-record toss of 41.13 meters.
 
Towards the end of the day, five NCU runners competed in the 5000m as Sierra Brown, Alyssa Harmon and Michelle Fletcher finished 2-3-4 to combine for 19 points. All three set new personal record in the event while Fletcher added a "B" standard in the event.
 
With their top-three finishes Brown and Harmon both earned All-CCC honors. For Brown it completed a double All-Conference weekend after her third-place finish in Friday's 1500m.
 
Nelson was also a double all-conference honoree, adding a third-place finish in the triple-jump.
 
Other highlights of the second day of competition included three more personal records. Brianna Wood broke her best in the 400m Hurdle with a time of 1:08.01 while Macie Gale (2:20.61) and Emily Moon (2:21.18) improved their times in the 800m. For Gale it meant a seventh-place finish as she scored points for the second time this weekend. She earned eight points for her second-place and All-CCC performance in the steeplechase on Friday.
