EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Shaneesa Applegate broke the NCU long jump record on Thursday evening and hit the NAIA "B" standard in the process to collect one of four school records for the Beacon track & field team at the Titan Twilight.
 
Applegate launched herself 5.56 meters to win the event, easily clearing for old record of 5.41m set by Breanna Schmidt in the same meet three years ago. Her mark is just .09 meters away from an Automatic qualification to the NAIA National Championship.
 
Both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay records also fell on Thursday. Applegate, Kelly Willyard, Cass Brownell and Haley Damian took down their own 4x1 with a time of 50.95. Willyard and Brownell were joined by Emily Moon and Breanna Wood in the 4x4, winning the event by 14 seconds as the hit a 4:05.50.
 
Also falling was the 100m record, also owned by Breanna Schmidt. Myranda Johnson is the new standard bearer after cruising to a 13.18 second time. She was just 3/100ths away from landing a CCC qualification.
 
Along with the long jump and 4x400m relay, NCU won three other events. Sierra Brown claimed the 1500m win (4:41.20), Anna Brooks took down the 3000m (10:43.12) and Bailey Dell owned the Javelin title (45.75m).
 
Distance runners Alyssa Harmon and Rosa Schmidt also had strong days, adding new events to their CCC-qualification list. Harmon, already a qualifier in the 1500m and the 5000m, qualified in the 800m (2:22.22). Schmidt added the 1500m (4:48.69) to her 5k and 10k qualifications.
