SAN FRANCISCO – The NCU distance track program continued to post staggering results on Friday while competing at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
Â
A number of personal records fell at the event and a pair of school records went down as well. Leading the way was junior
Michelle Fletcher who shaved another nine seconds off of her own standard in the 3000m Steeplechase, coming in with a 10:52.20 to break the 11-minute barrier for the first time. She posted the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season. Fletcher and junior
Macie Gale both improved their existing "A" qualification marks in the steeple as Gale cleared another seven seconds off to finish at 11:10.16.
Â
For the second consecutive race, junior
Sierra Brown broke the 1500m record, which had stood as one of the longest held records in the book. Brown came in at 4:33.85 for the new benchmark while posting the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Â
Brown (pictured, right) also earned a CCC qualification in a third event, running a 2:19.27 in the 800m. She was joined in the event by
Emily Moon (pictured, left), who improved her own CCC qualifier as well (2:21.22).
Â
A new NAIA qualification was also earned on Friday night as
Rosa Schmidt completed an "A" standard 5000m race. A previous "B" standard qualifier, Schmidt ran a 17:31.19.
Â
NCU continues a full weekend slate on Saturday as the majority of the team will hit up Linfield's Jen Boymann Invitational in McMinnville. Â
