PORTLAND, Ore. – The second-oldest school record was shattered on Saturday at junior
Sierra Brown (pictured) ran a remarkable 1500m race at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open.
Â
Brown earned her second NAIA "A" Standard in the event, running a 4:34.73 to break Brittany Arch-Petersen's mark of 4:37.08, set in April 2012. Brown's time was also the third-fastest in the NAIA this season.
Â
Also earning a new NAIA mark was sophomore
Rosa Schmidt, grabbing a "B" standard in the 5000m (17:45.98) to add to her "A" mark in the 10,000m from two weeks ago.
Â
A school record was also established as the Beacons ran a 4x100m relay for the first time in school history, as
Shaneesa Applegate,
Haley Damian,
Cassie Brownell, and
Myranda Johnson finished the event with a time of 52.79.
Â
Four new CCC qualifying standards were also achieved as
Macie Gale and
Michelle Fletcher qualified in the 1500m, Johnson hit the 400m Hurdle standard and Applegate posted a strong mark in the Long Jump. Â
