POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team will make their first visit to the Round of 16 on Friday afternoon at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship tournament and it won't be easy. The Beacons are slotted to take on No. 2 seed Indiana Wesleyan University.

The Wildcats are currently 29-5 on the season after a 113-81 win over Bellevue University in the first round. IWU was the runner-up in the Crossroads League behind Saint Francis of Indiana, one of the No. 1 seeds in the tournament. In fact, of their five losses on the season, three came at the hands of Saint Francis.

Indiana Wesleyan is fluid offensive team, leading the NAIA this season in assists and averaging 90.2 points per game. Leading the way are three players who all score at least 14.5 points per game. Junior Forward Lane Mahurin is on top, scoring 18.5 per game while shooting 56% from the field. Junior Bob Peters scores 16.9 points per game and has hit 94 three-pointers on the season, shooting 46% from beyond the arch. Coming in at 14.5 points per game is senior Guard Jonny Marlin. Marlin also leads the team and is fifth in the NAIA in assists, averaging 6.4 per game. He has 208 total assists on the season.

The winner of Friday's game will take on the winner between No. 8 seed York College and No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan. That game will tip off following the NCU-IWU battle.Â
