Beacons Swept In Portland

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Ore.  – The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team dropped a pair of games this weekend during a Cascade Collegiate Conference road trip to Portland. The Beacons closed out the first half of the CCC schedule falling to Concordia University on Friday night, 81-68 before losing to #11 Warner Pacific on Saturday, 86-55.

On Friday night Concordia shot 55% from the field and limited NCU to just 39% shooting. The Cavaliers stretched a five-point halftime lead to win for the 38th time in the series, which dates back to 1981.

The Beacons were led by Trevor Parker (pictured), shooting 7-for-17 from the field for 19 points. Travis Pacos added eleven points and Jordan Buhler came off the bench to score ten. Wyatt Taboh-Graziano never found the net, but led NCU with five rebounds.

Concordia (9-9, 4-5 CCC) was led by Adam Herman, scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. The senior post shot 11-for-13 from the field. Anthony Holton added 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting and Willy Ligon scored 16, hitting a trio of three-pointers.

On Saturday NCU was knocked off by the Knights (17-4, 8-1), who hit 13-for-21 from three-point range in the first half to pull away early. Doug Thomas led WPC with 27 points while Marcus Moore and Ryan Parks came off the bench to combine for ten three-pointers and 36 points. The Warner Pacific bench out-scored NCU's reserves, 44-16.

The Beacons (7-14, 1-8) were once again led by Parker, scoring 18 points as he shot 4-for-7 from three-point range. In his first start of the season, Jordan Miller added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Northwest Christian will return home next weekend as they begin the second-half of conference play against The Evergreen State College (2-15, 1-8) on Friday night at 7:30 pm.
