EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian University trailed 27-7 early on and was never able to get closer than twelve points on Monday night, dropping their season opener to Lewis-Clark State College, 81-56.
Head Coach
Corey Anderson said, “Our early offense really effected out early defense and when you can't score and can't stop the other team, that's not an equation for success. Fortunately, we'll be able to build off of this as we move forward.”
The Warriors held NCU to single-digit scoring for more than 16 minutes before the Beacons went on an 8-0 run towards the end of the first half. The Beacons trailed 38-19 at the intermission after shooting just 28.6% in the opening period. The Beacons shot 19-for-54 on the game including a tough 8-for-28 performance at the three-point line.
Senior guard
Erik Quick-Warner (pictured) led Northwest Christian (0-1), scoring 12 points. He was the lone bright spot for the Beacon offense, shooting 50% from the field including a 3-for-6 night from beyond the arc.
Cameron Marshall added nine points and six rebounds and
Ben Voogd scored seven points but had five turnovers in his NCU debut.
Northwest Christian continues their road-trip on Wednesday night as they travel to face Walla Walla University.
