EUGENE, Ore. – Three days after the Beacons proved the old adage that it's hard to beat a team three times in one season by knocking off Southern Oregon in the Cascade Conference quarterfinals, Corban University did the same, taking down Bushnell in the semifinals, 78-70.
As to be expected from a rivalry matchup in the post-season, Bushnell and the Warriors put on a battle befitting of teams that were tied for sixth-place in the CCC regular season. Corban led by as many as 17 points early in the second half, but fueled by a raucous home crowd of over 550, the Beacons mounted a huge comeback to get as close as three points before the visitors sealed the win.
Kaleb put the Beacons (14-14) on his back in this one, closing the season with a double-double as he scored 26 points with 11 rebounds.
Rylan Donovan was a big part of the second-half comeback as he scored 12 points after the break, finishing with 16.
Squeeky Johnson hit all three of Bushnell's three-pointers and scored 12 points and
Cory Johnson sealed his career with four more points, but led all players with 14 rebounds.
Corban (15-14) shot 42% in the game and held the Beacons to just 36%, using a 56-40 margin in the paint. Joe Gould scored 25 points to lead the Warriors, followed by a 19-point, 10-rebound performance from TJ Zimmerman.
