EUGENE, Ore.  – A pair of second-half goals lifted the University of Providence to their first victory over the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Beacons 2-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener for both schools at Civic Park.
 
The Beacons (1-2-2, 0-1 CCC) out-shot the Argos 13-8, but Providence made the most of their chances while holding off a Bushnell second-half effort that included four shots-on-goal.
 
UP struck first just nine minutes into the second half as Jaclyn Chandonnet sent a through ball to a nearly-offside Jaelyn Chandonnet who fired home the eventual game winner.
 
The Argos added another one in the 65th minute as Adele Gregory stole the ball on a turnover, slotted a pass to Andriah Watson, who shot an untouchable strike into the upper corner of the net.
 
Providence (1-4, 1-1 CCC) tripled their season scoring output on Saturday after connecting form just one goal through their first four games.

UP NEXT: Bushnell stays home for two CCC matches next weekend, beginning on Friday at 4:30 pm against No. 9-ranked College of Idaho (4-1, 1-0).
