McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The 2026 Bushnell Track & Field Outdoor season got underway on Saturday with the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker, hosted by Linfield University.
Â
With the event coinciding with the end of the Indoor Track & Field season, NAIA rules dictate that no conference or national qualifying marks may be attained during the event. Serving as a mere appetizer, Bushnell was still able to put together a strong performance, collecting no less than 40 broken or established personal bests along with a handful of would-be conference qualifying marks and one new school record.
Â
"We had a really good day in a lot of ways today," said Head Coach
Kyle Will. "Throws killed it today, our distance runners all did really well, and for the first meet of the outdoor season, we are really pleased with what we saw. This was certainly a confidence booster for us as we head into the meat of the season."

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Â

Sienna Lillebo, and
Lindsey Rankin (pictured) won by 1.35 seconds as the finished in 4 minutes, 10.26 seconds.
Â
Leah Scheiwe and
Janaiya Miller started their outdoor journey with both discus and shot put marks that would be conference qualifiers. In the shot put, Scheiwe claimed the fourth-best throw in school history and took third-place, tossing a 12.90m (39-08.00) heave. In the Discus, the school-record holder posted a 37.74m (123-10) throw, the second-longest of her career. Miller established her own personal bests in both events as well.
Â
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Â
The Bushnell men opened with a host of CCC-qualifying marks, boding well for what tickets they will be able to punch when the outdoor season begins in earnest. On top of that list was
Maxwell Al-Rubaie (pictured) in the hammer throw, as the junior shattered his own school record by over 16 feet with a toss of 48.58 meters (159-04).
Â
Other throwers who started strong included
Brodie Riscili in the shot put and discus,
Terren Crabb and Clay DeWitt in the javelin, and
Brett Olmstead in the pole vault.
Â
Up Next: The Beacons will have a strong opportunity close to home next Saturday as they compete in the Lane Community College Invitational.
