No. 12 LC State Sweeps Twin Bill

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Bushnell baseball team hit the road for the first time in Cascade Conference play, opening up a three-game set at No. 12 Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday with a pair of losses, 16-8 and 15-3.

LC State (14-2, 6-2 CCC) pounded out 27 hits in the double-header and benefitted from an uncharacteristic six errors on the Beacons (10-11, 2-6), scoring eight unearned runs across the double-header to claim the pair of wins.

Bushnell had 24 hits of their own, but couldn't match the scoring output of the Warriors.

GAME ONE: LC State 16, Bushnell 8

The Warriors had Bushnell's number all game in the opener, putting up crooked numbers in five different innings in a 17-hit game. Austin Wolfe (2-3) took the loss for the Beacons. The junior had to get pulled in the second inning after getting hit by a comebacker, while an early 5-2 Bushnell lead couldn't hold up.

The Beacon offense held its own with 14 hits, including three apiece from Albert Jennings and Nigel Fahland. Nate Stevens went 2-for-4 with three RBI and his seventh home run of the season.

GAME TWO: LC State 15, Bushnell 3 (7 Innings)

The Warriors were able to invoke the run-rule in the night cap, thanks in large part to an eight-run third inning that blew the game wide open. LCSC posted a pair of grand slams, one in the second and one in the third and put the game out of reach.

Loreto Siniscalchi (1-2) worked into the third inning for the Beacons to take the loss. Griffin Sanchez went two innings and helped steady the ship as he allowed just two hits an no earned runs as Bushnell had four errors in the game.

A Jaden Thomson solo homer in the second inning, an RBI single by Jennings and a sacrifice fly for Dylan Carson accounted for all of Bushnell's scoring while Nate Stevens added three more hits.

UP NEXT: The Beacons and Warriors will close out their three-game set on Sunday, beginning at 11:00 am.
