EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell beach volleyball team returned to Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday morning with a 3-2 defeat of Northwest University.

Kim Elgarico. "Today was a good warm up for tomorrow's matches and we are excited for another opportunity to face both the Eagles and the Yotes again."

Sydney Myhre won the opening match at the 4's and
Kailey Shirley and
Haley Engelbrecht started off the second flight with a big win at the 5's, the Beacons found themselves tied 2-2 and on the cusp of the upset loss.
It all came down to the No. 3 pair of
Monet Panther and
Carly Hanna (pictured), who rallied after dropping the first set, taking a nail-biter with a Hanna service ace to escape with the victory.
"I am proud of the way we fought back and finished the match with a win," said Hanna. "Monet and I were communicating well and able to execute our game plan."
UP NEXT: The stage is set for a Saturday morning rubber-match showdown between the Beacons (5-9, 4-5 CCC) and No. 10-ranked College of Idaho (4-5, 4-5) at 10:00 am (MT). Third-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference will be on the line as the Beacons and Yotes split their first two meetings earlier this season in Salem, where the Beacons won 5-0 before falling 3-2 in the second match. Bushnell will also face off against Northwest (2-7, 2-7) for the final time this season at 12 pm (MT).
