SALEM, Ore. – The Bushnell beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to No. 9 College of Idaho before defeating Northwest University to move to 2-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

After upsetting the NAIA's No. 9-ranked Yotes on Friday in their CCC opener, C of I grabbed a dose of revenge on Saturday with a 3-2. All five pairs played close sets, but all ended in sweeping fashion, including wins for the Beacons at No. 2 and No. 5.

The Beacons got back to their winning ways in their second match, After splitting the 2/4 matches in the first wave, NU took the 2-1 advantage with a win in the No.1's, only to see Bushnell quickly tie the match against with a win for
Kailey Shirley and
Haley Engelbrecht at the 5's.
It all came down to the threes, and it came down to a third set, which
Carly Hanna and
Monet Panther took 15-8 to seal the win.

For Shirley and Engelbrecht, it was their third straight win to close a strong weekend. Engelbrecht said, "I am so proud of the way Kailey and I kept our composure in every moment."
"We came out strong with two sweeps today and persevered to end the win," added Shirley. "You could feel the sisterhood from the moment we stepped on the court. I can't wait to get back and get better to prepare for Corban."
UP NEXT: Bushnell (2-4, 2-1 CCC) will head back to Salem on Tuesday for a pair of matches against NAIA No. 2-ranked Corban University (8-1, 2-0) beginning at 2:00 pm.
