British Columbia Completes Sweep in Pitchers Duel

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The University of British Columbia, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, was fueled by a pair of solo home runs as they came from behind to defeat Bushnell 3-1 on Saturday, completing a sweep of the three-game series.

Bushnell had set the tone early as Nate Stevens cranked a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, giving the Beacons a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, it would be the final time on the scoreboard for the home team as four UBC pitchers combined to shut out Bushnell the rest of the way.

Miles Chamberlain (3-0) went six strong for the T-Birds to claim the victory, striking out five batters and allowing one run on five hits. Three relievers combined to strike out five more over the final three innings, giving up two hits.

The Beacons did have the bases loaded with only one out on the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to come away with anything.

Kai Keamo threw a solid game for Bushnell as well, going 6.1 innings and striking out five with just two runs allowed.

UP NEXT: The Beacons (10-9, 2-4 CCC) hit the road next weekend, traveling to Lewiston to take on Lewis-Clark State for a three game set, beginning Friday at 11:00 am.
