SALEM, Ore. – The Bushnell beach volleyball team opened Cascade Collegiate Conference action with a win over ninth-ranked College of Idaho, earning the victory in sweeping fashion on Friday at the Corban Beach Courts.
The win is the first-ever for the Beacons (1-3) over the Yotes (0-1), who had won the first six contests. Four of five pairs went the distance, while the No. 5 pairing of
Haley Engelbrecht and
Kailey Shirley won their matchup in straight sets.

The sweep was sealed with the No. 3 pair of
Carly Hanna and
Monet Panther, who rebounded after a tight loss in the first set. Hanna said, "I am really proud of everyone's energy and execution today. Mo and I were very intentional with our game plan and we were able to accomplish what we wanted to do."
Panther added, "I am very happy with the way Carly and I played and how fearless we were regardless of the score. I am also super proud of how our entire team played with such confidence and showed everyone what we are capable of."
Up next, Bushnell continues conference action with two matches on Saturday, beginning with a rematch against the College of Idaho at 10 a.m. The Beacons will have short break before taking on Northwest at 2 p.m.
