Beacons Fall to Corban

SALEM, Ore.  – Allowing a pair of goals on each side of the intermission, the Bushnell women's soccer team dropped a key Cascade Collegiate Conference battle on Friday evening, falling on the road to Corban University, 4-1.

The Beacons (4-5-2, 3-4 CCC) outshot the Warriors in the contest 19-12, but weren't able to connect on enough passes in the top third and Corban (6-6-2, 4-3-1) took advantage as they scored on four of their five shots on goal in the contest.

Head Coach Toni Malone said, "Today we came out flat and struggled to put our chances away. We need to find ways to perform better on the road, capitalize on our opportunities, and make smarty decisions in key moments in the game."

Corban wasted little time before putting the game out of reach as Haley Miersma scored in the ninth minute, followed by a goal from Kate Dickson in the 15th. It was the first of three goals for Dickson, earning her first career hat trick.

Bushnell's loan goal was sandwiched the middle of the Warrior onslaught as Ohu Miles drilled a top-shelf strike on a 20-yard free-kick in the 31st minute. It was her fourth goal of the season.

UP NEXT: Bushnell, currently sitting with nine points in the Cascade Conference standings, will have four matches remaining to climb the ladder, beginning next Friday at home against Southern Oregon at 4:30 pm.
