Beacons Hang with No. 5 Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho  – Bushnell shook off a rough opening half to shutout the College of Idaho over the final 45 minutes, showing some resiliency in a 3-0 loss to the No. 5-ranked team in the NAIA.

The Yotes (7-1, 4-0 CCC), who were coming off an impressive 10-0 win over Corban on Friday, carried over their momentum into the first half against the Beacons, scoring in the 22nd minute and adding another two goals before halftime.

The Beacons were out-shot 32-1 in the contest, but survived 20 shot attempts in the second half as Ana Augusto collected eight of her 11 saves to keep the game from getting out of hand.

"We had a hard fought battle against a great team today," said Head Coach Halle Meadows. "I am support proud of our players for not only competing physically but mentally in a very hard game. I am glad we saw the toughest competition in the front of the season so we can show up prepared for the other teams in our conference moving forward.

UP NEXT: The Beacons (2-3-2, 1-2 CCC) return to Eugene after two weeks on the road, and will take on Walla Walla University (0-3, 0-3 CCC) on Friday at 12:00 pm.
