MARION, Ind. – Sophomore
Kaleo Wellman finished of the men's track & field season for the Beacons on Thursday afternoon, closing the book on the 2024-2025 athletic season for Bushnell Athletics.
Â
Competing at the NAIA National Championships in the Long Jump, Wellman claimed 14th-place at the event, earning a mark of 7.09m (23-3.00) on his second jump. It was the eighth-longest jump in school history.
Â
Wellman rounds out an incredible 2025 year in which he finished as the NAIA National Runner-Up in the Long Jump at the NAIA Indoor National Championships, scoring points for the Beacons in Indoor Track for the first time in school history. He set new indoor and outdoor school records, and was named Bushnell's Male Athlete of the Year.
Â
"There is definitely some disappointment for Kaleo," said Director of Track & Field
Kyle Will. "He felt like he did everything right, felt strong this morning, but it just wasn't his day and that is just a part of this sport. At the end of the day, he is still a sophomore and one of the top jumpers in the nation. We are proud of him and we are excited for his future."
