Beacons Drop Two to End Regular Season

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Beacons limped across the finish line on Sunday as they closed out the regular season again Oregon Tech with the Owls claiming a pair of run-rule victories, 11-0 and 17-7.

GAME ONE: Oregon Tech 11, Bushnell 0 (7 Innings)

The Beacons ran into a buzz saw in Owls starter Bronson Chapple, who nearly threw a complete game while holding the Beacons to two hits and striking out six batters. The Beacons were shutout for the first time in over two years, and held to their lowest hit total since February 19, 2022.

Max Chapman (6-2) took the loss for the Beacons, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits over the first three innings.

GAME TWO: Oregon Tech 17, Bushnell 7 (8 Innings)

The Beacon offense got their act together in the afternoon cap as they collected ten hits and held a 6-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run homer from Jameson Hussey.

The Owls, however, rallied to put up eight runs in the bottom of the sixth and never looked back, eventually walking off the ten-run victory in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single from Patrick Berry, his 12th hit of the weekend series.

Kai Keamo (pictured) started the game in the circle for the Beacons and was his usual self, striking out a pair and giving up just one unearned run through the first 2.2 innings before coming out of the game on a strict pitch count ahead of the CCC tournament.

The bullpen was where things took a turn for the worse as five relievers combined to allow 16 runs on 12 hits over five innings.

Jordan Wilson, Ethan Stacy, and Kolby Amaral each earned a pair of hits for the Beacons with Amaral connecting on his fourth homer of the season.

UP NEXT: The Beacons (32-18, 22-15) head to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship next weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia as the University of British Columbia won the CCC regular season championship on Sunday. Bushnell is the No. 4 seed for the tournament and will be the home team against No. 5 seed College of Idaho in the tournament opener on Friday at 11:00 am.
