Beacons Clinch Fourth Place With Loss to Owls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Bushnell baseball team was knocked off 11-1 in seven innings on Friday morning in the first of a four-game series at Oregon Tech, locking the Beacons into a fourth-place finish in the CCC for the second straight season.

Game two of the series was postponed due to rain with the teams tied at 10-10 in the top of the seventh inning.

Bushnell managed just four hits in the opener as Tim Williams (7-0) tossed six innings, striking out three batters.

The Beacons were able to avoid the shutout in the seventh inning when Will Hudler reached on a leadoff single, advanced to third base on a pair of wild pitches, and then scored on a passed ball.

Oregon Tech's offense rolled through starter Austin Wolfe (2-2), giving up six earned runs on ten hits in five innings of work. The Owls posted a four-spot in the first and never looked back.

Bushnell can no longer catch OIT for third-place, but are still able to play spoiler to the Owls in their bid to potentially climb to second-place in the CCC standings this weekend.

UP NEXT: If weather and a playable field surface on the CCC's only grass and dirt field allows, the series will continue at 12:00 pm on Saturday, with the resumption of game two before the scheduled double-header.
