EUGENE, Ore. – The second day of Cascade Collegiate Conference action at the Bushnell/Grace Beach Courts ended with another pair of losses for the Beacons as they took on Northwest for the second time and The No. 10-ranked College of Idaho for the first.
Head Coach
Kim Elgarico said, "This team has a lot of fight and we are only two or three points here or there from completely changing the outcome. It was great that we could host an opening weekend with sunshine and friends and family, and with our extended family at Grace Community Fellowship, who provided us and Northwest an amazing breakfast before we played."
MATCH ONE: Northwest University 3, (RV) Bushnell 2
For the second straight match, Northwest took down the Beacons on their home turf, and for the second straight match it came down to the No. 5 pair. Ava Hoy and Kali Dransfeldt prevailed in three sets once again over

MATCH TWO: (10) College of Idaho 4, (RV) Bushnell 1
The College of Idaho (2-1) took an impressive win over Bushnell, winning four pairs including two that came down to tiebreakers.
Bushnell avoided the sweep early, with the No. 2 pair of
Olivia Kelzenberg and
Jazmyn Wilcox earning their first win of the season, and first win as a pair, doing so in two sets.
Kelzenberg said, "Jaz and I learned from day one and got the nerves out, so day two we were able to focus on our game and do our job. We emphasized communication and leaned on our chemistry to pick up the win."
"The first day we were very timid," added Wilcox, "and had a lot of nerves. Today we came in knowing the adjustments we needed to make to win and we were very consistent."
