EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 20 Bushnell volleyball team avenged a road loss earlier this season, taking care of Oregon Tech in sweeping fashion, 25-11, 25-14, 25-17. The victory ensures at least a tie for third-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and the Beacons have clinched the No. 3 seed for the upcoming CCC tournament.
The Beacons (19-10, 13-6 CCC) outscored the Owls 53-24 on points and collected ten service aces in a dominant performance. The Owls (12-14, 6-13) were held to a negative hitting percentage with 17 kills and 22 attack errors.
Head Coach
Jason Corwin said, "We are playing with a lot of confidence right now. Being able to sweep this team after we lost to them in five sets on the road meant a little something, and I am pleased that we are able to play to this standard for three straight sets like we are at the end of the season."
Junior Soliel Sands (pictured) continued what has been a strong month of November as she led Bushnell with ten kills, hitting .833 without an attack error, along with three blocks.
"Soliel does anything in front of her to help her team win," said Corwin. "Tonight she really helped us. It has been a point of emphasis for us to find our middles in transition and we found her tonight, and she took advantage."
Amyah Semau ended her night with a match-high 12 kills, and equaled a match-high with three of Bushnell's ten service aces.
Hailey Heider finished with 11 kills.
Chloe Farr led all players with nine digs and
Emma Fa'alogo contributed a match-high 22 assists.
The Owls were led by Willow Jacobson and Savanna Sterck, posting five kills apiece while Lucy Boyd and Alexa Gugliotta equaled match-highs with three blocks apiece.
UP NEXT: The Beacons will wrap up the regular season on Saturday night, taking on Southern Oregon University at 4:00 pm. The Raiders (13-13, 10-9) have qualified for the CCC tournament and are tied for sixth-place, but need a win to try and keep their hopes of hosting a Tuesday play-in game.
Coach Corwin said, "We are honoring our seniors tomorrow night against a tough opponent. They have something to play for and so do we. I wouldn't want to face us on our home floor on senior night. We are playing very well right now and we are going to be ready for a really good team."
